Useful Information:
The registration/application fee explained
A registration fee of £175 is payable for all academic courses at the time of booking. For High School Experience and Vacation Courses the registration fee is £75. It should be sent with the completed application form in order for us to process the student’s application. This is used to cover the cost of processing your application, i.e. telephoning, postage, secretarial costs, interviews where necessary, liaising with embassies etc. The registration fee is non-refundable.
Expense accounts and deposits
For Academic courses:
£1750 is required for the expense account. This amount is divided into two parts. £1000 is for supplementary items such as books, extra tuition, extra excursions, etc. The other £750 is held as a security deposit. This amount is held by Abbey College and returned four weeks after the end of the course, or refunded if a student leaves before the end of their course having given the required one full term’s notice.
In addition to the registration fee a minimum deposit of £3175 is also required before a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) will be issued. In some instances a higher deposit may be requested.
English All Year and Vacation courses:
Students on these courses need not pay the full expense account, unless they want to take part in a lot of extra activities or require additional lessons. They are however required to pay a smaller, fully refundable deposit of £50 in cash on arrival, to cover potential loss of keys or any damages.
Students who require a visitor visa
Students enrolling on an academic course must pay the registration fee and a minimum deposit of £3175 (in some instances a higher deposit may be requested) before a visa invitation letter will be issued.
Students enrolling on an English course or vacation course must pay the registration fee and 50% of the course fees before a visa invitation letter will be issued.
Confirmation of enrolment
All accepted students for English All Year or Vacation courses will receive a confirmation of enrollment document. All fees are payable 30 days prior to the start of the course except in the case of agreed late bookings. Any other arrangement needs to be agreed by Abbey College beforehand in writing.
All courses will be confirmed once the required deposits have been received.
Students who do not require a visa
Students enrolling on an academic course must pay the registration fee and a minimum deposit of £3175 ( in some instances a higher deposit may be requested). The remaining fees should then be paid at least 30 days prior to arrival.
Students enrolling on an English course or vacation course must pay the registration fee and 50% of the course fees. The remaining fees should then be paid at least 30 days prior to arrival.
